Prognosis

Research Status
Broad-spectrum antibiotics (ceftriaxone + doxycycline + metronidazole) are standard. Outpatient vs. inpatient depends on severity. Partner treatment essential. No role for routine IUD removal. Treatment of complications (tubo-ovarian abscess). Prevention through STI screening and treatment.
