Prognosis
5-year survival 60% overall. Early (localized): 80-90%. Regional spread: 50-60%. Distant metastasis: 30-40%. Glottic (vocal cord) has best prognosis. Supraglottic (above) has higher spread risk.
Prevention
- Smoking cessation
- Limit alcohol
- HPV vaccination
- Healthy diet
- Avoid occupational exposures
- Regular dental checkups
- Prompt evaluation of hoarseness
